Establishing Your Ethos

For this assignment, you will create a video where you explain Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and engage with critical perspectives about its origins. Additionally, you will reflect on your personal life by expanding on a poster board that you created in class. Follow the steps to complete the assignment. If you did not finish or participated incompletely, now is your chance to redo it. This portion will be part of your final grade in this assignment, and it does not impact your previous participation grade.

Teaching MLA and APA Format

Create a video tutorial in which you teach your peers how to properly format an essay in MLA and APA style. This assignment will help you demonstrate your understanding of scholarly formatting and enhance your presentation and teaching skills.


Essay 2 Research Studies & Experiments (1 Required)

Students are required to select one Research Study to complete for Essay 2. Completing more will be considered extra credit.

Research Study 1

The purpose of this assignment is to help you understand the concept of Cause-and-Effect or Compare-and-Contrast data collection through social conformity. Through the replication of Solomon Asch’s famous conformity experiment, you will be able to collect data and conduct research.

Research Study 2

Do not do if under the age of 18.

Students will conduct a small-scale research study to explore implicit biases using the Harvard IAT. Through this assignment, students will develop skills in hypothesis formation, data collection, interviewing, and analysis. They will also practice applying course concepts in a real-world context.


Essay 3 Projects: Determined By Student (2 Required)

The Narrative

This assignment assesses your ability to analyze and reflect on key rhetorical, psychological, and business communication concepts through a structured video presentation. By engaging with theories and documenting your work, you will connect course concepts to real-world applications and personal growth.

Cults, Religions, and Social Conformity Rhetorics

Students will create a video essay examining how religious rhetoric, social norms, and cult-like behavior have influenced historical and contemporary events. The essay must incorporate all provided resources while allowing students to make arguments from their chosen perspective.

Environment, Religion, and Political Impact

Students will create a video essay analyzing environmental rhetorics and the impact of religion and politics on these discussions. They will explore how ecocentrism, anthropocentrism, and ethnocentrism shape environmental perspectives and discuss the impact of political rhetorics on environmental change.

Health, Medicine, and the Body

Students will create a video essay analyzing how health, medicine, and societal views on the body are shaped by cultural, political, and social narratives. The video essay will examine how race, bias, body autonomy, and historical perspectives influence current health practices and perceptions of the body.
