Assignment Instructions: Mbongi Discussion & Recursive Writing Project
Group Requirements
- Form a group of exactly 4 or 5 people. No more and no less.
- Meet in-person as a group to complete the discussion portion of the assignment.
- Record your entire in-person meeting.
- Submit the recording as a YouTube link (preferred and strongly recommended).
- If you choose to submit the video using any other method (Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.), it is your responsibility to ensure the link is accessible and set to “Anyone with the link can view.”
- Inaccessible links or files will result in a zero for the assignment (per college and TCSG policy).
5.Each group member must submit their own individual copy of the assignment into their own submission box.
What You Will Submit
Part 1: Mbongi Discussion (Video – YouTube Link)
You and your group will record a full study session covering the Mbongis and assigned readings.
Requirements for the Video:
- All group members must be present and actively participate throughout the entire session.
- Study and discuss all information from the Mbongis, including all assigned readings and any extra resources provided.
- For each item discussed, present the sources you are referencing.
- Discuss why each person in the group believes these particular items/readings were assigned for the course.
- Detail how research practice (as demonstrated in your Mbongi work) aligns with the course description.
Part 2: Recursive Writing (PDF – Submitted with Video Link)
In addition to the video, you will submit a PDF that includes the following:
Recursive Writing Section:
Choose one of the following chapters/assignments you previously completed:
- Chapter 6: Narration
- Chapter 7: Description
- Chapter 8: Exemplification
- Submit both:
- The original version of the assignment.
- The enhanced/revised version of the same assignment.
- Clearly explain:
- What specific enhancements you made.
- Why you made those changes.
- Finally, write a reflection that explains how all three assignments (Narration, Description, and Exemplification) align with the course description and course competencies.
- You must quote and paraphrase the course competencies/description in your reflection.
Submission Checklist (PDF Contents)
Your PDF should be clearly organized and include:
- Group member names (all 4–5 members)
- Original version of chosen assignment
- Enhanced version of chosen assignment
- Explanation of enhancements + rationale
- Reflection on alignment with course description and competencies (with direct quotes)
Important Notes:
- The video must show active participation from every member.
- The PDF and video link are submitted together by each individual student.
- Late submissions or inaccessible files = zero.
This assignment combines collaborative learning (Mbongi Discussion) with individual reflection and revision (Recursive Writing). Take it seriously and use it as an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the material and improve your writing.

Upload your video to YouTube and submit the link on Blackboard. Make sure your video is at least 10 minutes long and addresses each prompt fully.
Videos that require special permissions or access restrictions will result in an automatic 0.
All videos must be uploaded to YouTube.
You will submit the YouTube link to the video via Blackboard.
Important Notes:
The YouTube video must be uploaded before the assignment due date. If the video upload date is after the due date, it will result in an automatic 0.
Links that do not work or do not lead to the appropriate video will result in an automatic 0.
Videos that are taken down before the end of the semester (March 10) will result in an automatic 0.
